Tapper Funeral Service

Fees & charges

We have a transparent policy in respect of funeral costs and believe our clients should be fully armed with all such information when arranging a funeral with Tapper Funeral Service.

The overall cost of a funeral is a complicated matter; there are many variables and a number of third parties to consider. Therefore it is not necessarily helpful to say an average funeral costs £x or £y because what is 'an average funeral'?

Our policy, in keeping with the Code of Practice, as laid down by the National Association of Funeral Directors is to discuss the cost of the funeral with our clients when we first meet and to follow this up with an itemised written quotation as soon as possible and certainly prior to the funeral taking place. The cost of a funeral is usually payable by the deceased’s own Estate (from their own funds). If this is not possible and it is difficult for the family to fund the cost, we will examine every way possible to keep the cost to a minimum. We will also advise families in respect of any help they may get from the Benefits Agency and/or charity.

VAT is not payable on general funeral costs, only on the ancillary items such as memorials, printing etc. Where a price is quoted upon a taxable supply an allowance is made for the VAT as well.
