We are very proud to be the founders of Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground to the west of Poole. Harbour View opened at Easter 2005 and provides 'full' burial and burial or scattering of cremated remains. It is situated in beautiful countryside with some an ancient Bluebell wood and dramatic views of the backwaters of Poole Harbour, the Purbeck Hills and Corfe Castle.
The term 'Woodland Burial' has no exact definition but denotes a tendency towards planting trees, encouraging wildlife and a lack of formal headstones. Some woodland burial grounds plant a tree on every single grave; at Harbour View this is considered a short-term policy as trees do not naturally grow in this manner. Trees and hedgerows are therefore planted for the greater good of the grounds as a whole.
Graves may be taken with a tree but just as likely a family may choose a grave with a view or with a simple sandstone tablet to commemorate the deceased.
