Wakes and Refreshments
After a funeral, families often like to entertain their friends with some refreshments. This is an opportunity to relax and to remember the person who has died in a less formal way than during the funeral service. These events are often referred to as wakes.
The secret to a successful wake is to make it as convenient as possible for those attending – why not host your wake at Harbour View?
At Harbour View we can offer a wide range of menus for any size of congregation; from tea and a biscuit, to hot and cold buffets with Champagne reception – any palate can be accommodated. Service is provided as necessary by waiting service staff.
We have a number of rooms in which families may host the refreshments and they differ both in character and the number of people that can be accommodated.
The Purbeck Tea-Room is the largest of our rooms. It adjoins the Long Barrow Chapel and enjoys dramatic views over our own grounds to the Purbeck Hills beyond.
In addition, both The Barn and Harbour Lodge may be used for smaller parties and our marquee can be erected in a number of locations around the grounds.
All of the above have access to state-of-the-art, audio-visual facilities to stream photographic stories of the deceased person’s life making them unbeatable locations to continue the celebration of a person’s life after the funeral service.
