"My brother in law was a very funny man, dry, understated with a brain the size of a planet. He defied the odds in the face of leukemia in a typically undramatic fashion, in much the same way that he supported my sister when their world turned upside down, and then stayed that way. I think he would have enjoyed his funeral immensely, albeit in a slightly embarrassed, self deprecating fashion - the beautiful, almost surreal, setting, the lovely, warm, touching tributes from his children and colleagues, the mispronunciation of his first wife's name by the celebrant.. It was a fitting tribute to an extraordinary life."

We also discovered his talent as writer of private newsletters, loved his guitar sessions at home and were pleased to have him celebrating his 60th birthday with his friends in Germany in our home .
