Harbour View Crematorium – Serving Dorset, Southern Wiltshire, and Somerset
There are many factors to consider when selecting a crematorium – knowing where it is situated, that it has a convenient location, is certainly one of the more important ones.
Not many towns have their own crematorium. There are only three crematoria in the whole of Dorset, which goes to show they are relatively rare buildings and consequently are often remote from where some people live.
This page is dedicated to explaining where Harbour View is located and how to travel to us, should you need to. Harbour View is easily accessible from primary A-roads that bisect Dorset and link east, west and north, as is described in more detail below.
If you are travelling from Blandford, Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Warminster or beyond, take the A350 which runs from the M4 in Wiltshire to Poole. About 1 mile before the junction with A35 there are some traffic lights and immediately after them (about 50m) you can turn right into Randalls Hill. The main entrance to Harbour View is about ¼ mile on the left-hand side. From Blandford town centre, the distance is 10 miles and at normal weekday traffic levels will take around 19 minutes by car; from Shaftesbury it is 22 miles and take around 40 minutes.
If you are travelling from Swanage, Wareham, Wool, Lulworth, it is the A351 you need to connect with at Wareham and then stay with it until it terminates at the crossing of the A35 at what is locally known as ‘The Baker’s Arms Roundabout’ (you will see the pub by this name very prominently adjacent to the roundabout). From here you can either take the B3067 through Lytchett Minster Village for about 1 mile and turn left into Randalls Hill immediately after South Lytchett Manor Caravan Park or take the A35 towards Poole for one junction only, turning left on to the A350 which you will follow for about ½ mile before turning left into Randalls Hill, just before some traffic lights. From Wareham town centre, the distance is 5 miles and at normal weekday traffic levels will take around 14 minutes by car; from Swanage it is 15 miles and about 30 minutes.
If you are travelling from Dorchester, Bridport, Yeovil, Weymouth, it is the A35 you need to connect with (this is one of the main east-west roads and passes within ½ mile of Harbour View). From Dorchester, and now on the A35, you travel eastwards via Bere Regis in the direction of Poole to the junction with the A351 at what is locally known as ‘The Baker’s Arms Roundabout’ (you will see the pub by this name very prominently adjacent to the roundabout). From here you can either take the B3067 through Lytchett Minster Village for about 1 mile and turn left into Randalls Hill immediately after South Lytchett Manor Caravan Park or continue with the A35 towards Poole for one junction only, turning left on to the A350 which you will follow for about ½ mile before turning left into Randalls Hill, just before some traffic lights. From Dorchester town centre, the distance is 20 miles and at normal weekday traffic levels will take around 30 minutes by car.
If you are travelling from Wimborne, Ferndown, Verwood, Ringwood, Salisbury or from the M27/M3, it is the A31 you need to connect with and which ultimately passes about 3 miles north of Harbour View, where a large roundabout helps traffic as the A350 crosses the A31. At this roundabout, take the first exit (left) on to the A350 heading south towards Poole. About 1 mile before the junction with A35 there are some traffic lights and immediately after them (about 50m) you can turn right into Randalls Hill. The main entrance to Harbour View is about ¼ mile on the left-hand side. From Ringwood town centre, the distance is 15 miles and at normal weekday traffic levels will take around 25 minutes by car; from the A31/M27 junction it is 26 miles and take around 37 minutes.
The address of Harbour View is Randalls Hill, Lytchett Minster, Dorset and the post code is BH16 6AN however being a rural location, the post code covers quite a large area.
